Taught by subject matter experts, this program covers an array of essential topics for the nonprofit leader: board governance, communication, change management, organizational health, nonprofit finance essentials, program development, and more. This 36-contact hour program can be completed in under two months and culminates in a certificate of completion.

Know Before You Enroll

  • This certificate program will be administered in person. 
  • Registration closes on August 10th.
  • Orientation will be on August 28th from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in-person.
  • The first class will be on Tuesday, September 1st.
  • Light refreshments and snacks will be offered during the day. Coffee will be provided for the morning classes. 
  • The certificate program is $980.00 (Note: an additional admin fee is added when using the payment plan). 
  • This is a 36-hour program delivered over multiple classes.
  • Cohort enrollment classes are non-transferable and intended solely for the individual who registered.
  • Upon completion of the certificate program, an electronic certificate will be sent out 7-10 business days after the final class.

Learning & Development Director Jessica Lombard

Jessica Lombard is the Learning and Development Director for the San Antonio Area Foundation. Her career includes over a decade of leadership experience, development, and leading teams within project & change management. She also has a decade of service in nonprofit work, where she served San Antonio’s youth as a youth minister. She is an experienced communicator who has a passion to help South Texas non-profits develop their teams and resources to build a positive impact on our community. Jessica strives to help and encourage others to achieve their goals at developing their non-profit missions and capacity. When not serving our great San Antonio community, you can find Jessica supporting her daughters with Volleyball or Drill team.

Learning and Development Specialist Renee Carta

Renee Carta is the Learning and Development Specialist at the San Antonio Area Foundation. She joined the organization in 2019 as the Front Desk Assistant, where she provided dedicated support to nonprofit members and staff. With over a decade of experience in administrative roles and customer service, Renee is passionate about helping others achieve their goals and reach their full potential. As the L&D Specialist, Renee supports all Learning and Development programs to enhance nonprofit skills, performance, and productivity. She focuses on fostering a culture of continuous learning and ensuring the community has the tools and knowledge they need to succeed in their roles. Renee currently oversees the Reggie Williams Resource Library, holds Candid Expert Certification, and manages the San Antonio Area Foundation Membership program. Outside of work, Renee enjoys reading and collecting books, watching films, and spending quality time with her husband and two boys.

Learning & Development Manager Rachel Duran

Rachel Duran is the Learning and Development Manager at the San Antonio Area Foundation, where she supports nonprofit capacity‑building through the coordination and management of key professional development programs. Since joining the Area Foundation in 2016, she has applied her strengths in operations, communication, and stakeholder engagement to enhance the Foundation’s learning initiatives. Rachel is a SHRM Certified Professional with a background in Human Resources Management. In her role, she evaluates program effectiveness, manages learner engagement, oversees analytics, and ensures a positive, accessible experience for nonprofit partners. A lifelong learner, she is passionate about exploring ideas related to culture, wellness, and continuous improvement. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, creative projects, and spending time with her husband and family.

San Antonio Area Foundation Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • If a Course Is Cancelled or Postponed by the Area Foundation

    If a workshop or class is unexpectedly cancelled or postponed by the Area Foundation, a refund or credit toward another workshop or class will be issued.

  • If You Can’t Attend and Want to Send a Substitute

    Cohort program classes are non-transferable and intended solely for the individual who registered.

  • Refund Policy for Cancellations by Registrants

    If a registrant is unable to attend a cohort program and would like a refund, please notify the Learning and Development team at [email protected]. Cohort refunds are subject to a 5% administrative fee. Refunds are not available within 72 hours of the course start time.
