Professor Emeritus Mark Teachout, Ph.D.

Mark S. Teachout, PhD, is Professor Emeritus, University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, TX. He has taught Management, International Management, Human Resources Management, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Development, Leading Change, Organizational Consulting, Capstone, and Business Statistics at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Earlier, he was the Assistant Vice President of Learning and Performance Solutions, at USAA, and a Senior Scientist at the USAF Research Lab where he received the Scientific Achievement Award for outstanding research. He is an HR, training, and OD & Leadership consultant, with 35+ years of combined experience. He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Old Dominion University. He has taught and conducted research internationally, at John Cabot University, Rome, at the European Study Center in Heidelberg, and at IMC University of Applied Sciences, Krems, Austria, where he was awarded the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Grant.

Associate Professor Teresa Harrison, Ph.D.

Dr. Teresa Harrison is an Associate Professor in the Management department at the University of the Incarnate Word in the H-E-B School of Business and Administration. She also serves as a Co-Director of the Beckendorf Family Center of Entrepreneurship and Global Innovation at UIW. She earned her Ph.D. in Business Administration with a concentration in Organizational Behavior from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Dr. Harrison has taught a variety of courses including Organizational Behavior, Business Communication, Business Statistics, Human Resources Management, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management (Capstone), Leading a Diverse Workforce, and Talent Management at the graduate or undergraduate level. Her research focuses on diversity, entrepreneurship, electronic recruiting and selection, and the relations between cultural values and job choice preferences. She has publications in Journal of Management, Human Resource Management Review, Journal of Managerial Psychology, and International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior and Research, among others. Results of her research have been presented at the annual meetings of the Academy of Management, Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Southern Management Association, and UIW Research Week. In addition to these organizations, she is a member of the Management & Organizational Behavior Teaching Society, the Society for Human Resource Management, and is involved with the local San Antonio Human Resource Management Association.

  • Do you offer scholarships for the certificate?

    Yes, we offer scholarships on a learner-by-learner basis. If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, please email [email protected] for more information on eligibility and the application process.

  • How quickly will I receive my certificate after completing the Certificate Cohort?

    Certificates will be presented at the last class of the certificate cohort. Participants must have attended a minimum of 27 hours of learning to be eligible for the certificate. If you have any questions about your certificate, please feel free to contact the Learning and Development Team.

  • Are classes recorded?

    No, classes are not recorded to respect the speakers' intellectual property. We encourage participants to take notes and engage actively during the sessions.

  • Do we allow refunds or credits on trainings?

    If a workshop or class is unexpectedly canceled or postponed by the Area Foundation, participants will receive a refund or a credit towards another workshop or class. If a registrant is unable to attend, they may send a substitute or request a credit. However, please note that no credits or refunds will be issued for cancellations received less than 72 hours before the workshop. For more information, please contact us at [email protected]

  • Will speaker materials be provided in person and digitally for the learners?

    Yes, printed speaker materials will be provided and ready for learners on the day of the class. Please note that these materials are the intellectual property of the speakers and are not guaranteed to be available digitally.
