Richard Butler, Ph.D.

Butler is professor of economics, emeritus, and was the founding interim dean of the School of Business at Trinity University, where he now serves as alumni engagement coordinator. He has been at Trinity since 1982. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Pomona College, and the master's and doctorate degrees in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Butler has served as a policy advisor to several mayors of San Antonio, and was the founding CEO of the Alamo Academies, San Antonio’s award-winning workforce development program.

Mary Stefl, Ph.D.

Mary Stefl, Ph.D. is professor emerita of Health Care Administration at Trinity University. She was a long-term former department chair, and former dean of the Division of Behavioral and Administrative Studies. She has been with Trinity since 1984 and currently spends time with Trinity’s Development Office engaging alumni of the health care program. Since 1996, she and colleague Richard Butler, Ph.D. have prepared (for the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and other local entities) more than 30 economic impact studies of the region’s Healthcare & Bioscience, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Hospitality, and Information Technology industries.

Refund/Credit Policy

  • The San Antonio Area Foundation has a no refund policy.

    If a workshop and/or class has been unexpectedly cancelled and/or postponed by the Area Foundation, a refund or credit towards another workshop and/or class will be issued. If a registrant is unable to attend a workshop and/or class, a substitute may be sent or a credit may be issued. No credits will be given for cancellations received less than 48 hours before a workshop.
