Cerise Edmonds and Jessica Lombard

Cerise Edmonds

Cerise M. Edmonds is the Senior Executive Director for the Center for Professional Excellence at the University of Texas at San Antonio’s Alvarez College of Business. With over 25 years of higher education experience, Edmonds has served in various administrative and leadership positions. As senior executive director, Edmonds oversees the Center’s operations, business development, and Executive MBA and Executive Education programs. In addition, Edmonds is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate committed to supporting mental health and connecting learners with resources and training.

Learning & Development Director Jessica Lombard

Jessica Lombard is the Learning and Development Director for the San Antonio Area Foundation. Her career includes over a decade of leadership experience, development, and leading teams within project & change management. She also has a decade of service in nonprofit work, where she served San Antonio’s youth as a youth minister. She is an experienced communicator who has a passion to help South Texas non-profits develop their teams and resources to build a positive impact on our community. Jessica strives to help and encourage others to achieve their goals at developing their non-profit missions and capacity. When not serving our great San Antonio community, you can find Jessica supporting her daughters with Volleyball or Drill team.

FAQs

  • When does the cohort begin?

    The program begins in June 2024 and will be held virtually through Zoom. The program will conclude approximately within 4 weeks.

  • Are classes online or recorded?

    All classes are held online. No classes are record

  • What time is class held?

    Classes will be held from 9:00 am to noon. Apart from two optional labs with an additional 1 hour allotted.

  • Who will teach the classes?

    UTSA faculty from the Alvarez College of Business.

  • How many seats are in the cohort?

    Cohort size will be limited. We recommend that you register as quickly as possible.

  • What do I get upon cohort completion?

    Participants who complete at least 80% of the program (i.e., at least 4 classes and 12 contact hours) will be eligible to earn continuing education units, a digital badge and a non-academic certificate of completion from UTSA.

  • Can we use FAFSA funds for this cohort?

    No. This is a professional development education program.

  • How does the payment plan work?

    Available for a limited time. Participants register and pay half the fee upfront by credit card. The 2nd half is automatically charged to your credit card in 30 days. There is a $25 administrative fee for this service.

  • I don’t have a technical background. Will I be able to keep-up with this program?

    This program is intentionally geared at nonprofit professionals without a technical background. That said, we will use some platforms that require a functional understanding of using Excel. You should also have two computer screens available – one to watch the faculty presenter and a second – to practicing the techniques.

I am the agency’s IT person.  Should I enroll in this program?

While this program is geared toward those with a minimal technical background, it is open to those with an IT background interested in building their data management skills.  

What is Tableau Public?  How will it be used in this class?  

Tableau Public is a free cloud-based platform to explore, create, and share data visualizations using publicly available data online. In addition to using Tableau Public, we will use Excel for some of our data analysis.

What is required to earn the certificate of completion?   Is this certificate good for academic credit?

In order to earn the certificate, participants must complete at least 4 of the 5 classes.  We encourage you to attend all of the sessions, however.  They are not recorded.  This is a non-academic certificate of completion.

What is a digital badge?  What can I do with it?

A digital badge is an easy and transportable way to share your professional development accomplishments with others via social media, on your email signature line, and with current and prospective employers.

 Will everyone who earns the certificate also earn the CEUs?

Participants must opt-in to receive CEUs.  The program is equivalent to 1.5 CEUs from UTSA.  We recommend that you contact the governance board of your respective professional association in advance to determine if the CEUs awarded for this program will meet the requirements to maintain your licensure or professional certification.
