The focus will be on building key skills, covering basic HR terminology, organizational structures, and effective employee onboarding processes. Meet Your Expert Speaker

Diana Garza, Ph.D.

Diana Garza, Ph.D., is actively involved in research projects at Texas State University. Her latest role is that of Director of Professional Development for San Antonio SHRM in a volunteer capacity. She received her doctorate in Leadership Studies from Our Lady of the Lake University as well as a master's in business administration with a concentration in E-commerce. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Information Systems from The University of the Incarnate Word. Garza has an extensive corporate background working for large San Antonio based companies as well as for a global company as a director of Program Development collaborating on the development of graduate programs for U.S. and Latin American Universities.

Course Objectives

  • Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.


  • Learn best practices in HR to enhance organizational effectiveness and compliance with legal standards.


  • Build essential skills for new HR professionals, focusing on basic HR terminology and employee onboarding processes.

Refund/Credit Policy

  • The San Antonio Area Foundation has a no refund policy.

    If a workshop and/or class has been unexpectedly cancelled and/or postponed by the Area Foundation, a refund or credit towards another workshop and/or class will be issued. If a registrant is unable to attend a workshop and/or class, a substitute may be sent or a credit may be issued. No credits will be given for cancellations received less than 48 hours before a workshop.
