Diana Garza, Ph.D.

Diana Garza, Ph.D., is actively involved in research projects at Texas State University. Her latest role is that of Director of Professional Development for San Antonio SHRM in a volunteer capacity. She received her doctorate in Leadership Studies from Our Lady of the Lake University as well as a master's in business administration with a concentration in E-commerce. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Information Systems from The University of the Incarnate Word. Garza has an extensive corporate background working for large San Antonio based companies as well as for a global company as a director of Program Development collaborating on the development of graduate programs for U.S. and Latin American Universities.

HR for Nonprofits: Leadership for Retention (In-Person)

March 21st (Thursday) from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Course Description...  This course will describe what employee engagement means and cover the elements important to engagement. Elements discussed will include addressing diversity, an innovative culture, retaining diverse generations, making connections, employee development, and coaching (versus managing).  

Who Should Attend

Nonprofit Management Program participants, and all who are in a role to provide feedback, manage, coach or lead.

You will Learn to...

1. Describe the demands and desires of today’s employees and how these have changed. 

2.  Explain the difference between the past employee demands and today’s employee demands. 

3. Demonstrate understanding of the employee elements that lead to increased engagement. 

4.  Engage in conversations with employees about real workplace issues and invite employee input.

Refund/Credit Policy

  • The San Antonio Area Foundation has a no refund policy.

    If a workshop and/or class has been unexpectedly cancelled and/or postponed by the Area Foundation, a refund or credit towards another workshop and/or class will be issued. If a registrant is unable to attend a workshop and/or class, a substitute may be sent or a credit may be issued. No credits will be given for cancellations received less than 48 hours before a workshop.
